Aslockton Community Association
Since the Aslockton Community Association was set up in 2002 and with help from a wide range of people within the village it has now achieved its original goal of implementing the Parish Plan and it is hoped improved the quality of life for people within the village.
With our support the Thomas Cranmer Centre is now in operation and offers many opportunities for the village to come together, especially the theatre and musical events which from now on will be booked by the Thomas Cranmer Management Committee (contact Sue Rowe on 01949 850600 or at firstname.lastname@example.org). The coffee mornings on the second Friday of each month continue to be a success and clubs and organisations have their regular bookings.
With the setting up of our own website (www.Aslockton.org), provision of notice boards, welcome packs for newcomers and our village magazine ‘communication’ has been improved. Jean Marshall has agreed to continue with updating the website so please keep her fully informed of anything that is happening in the village: email email@example.com.
A Governing Sports Committee has been set up to liaise with the various sports clubs and improve the facilities on the Whatton and Aslockton Playing Field. (website details… http://www.wapft.org.uk/)
The Cranmer Youth Club continues to attract a large number of young people to its weekly meetings in the Jubilee Hall at Whatton (their website..... http://www.whattonjubileehall.org.uk/regular-events/cranmer-youth-club-programme)
The lovely display of flowers throughout the village adds a very cheery note and with the continued efforts of volunteers we remain largely litter-free, making us proud of our village.
We hope we have made a positive difference to life in Aslockton but we feel the time is right to bow out and are confident that the Aslockton Parish Council will continue to work for the benefit of everyone so we hope everyone will continue to give them their support.
